Lydia will be in conversation with Vera Boele-Keimer as part of her solo show, ‘Make Do’ at the RWA.

‘Literary and Visual Landscapes’, a University of Bristol interdisciplinary seminar series, presents a half-day symposium in April 2018 on the theme of ‘traversing land, sea and sky: travel and the landscape’. This symposium provides a welcoming and stimulating environment for researchers to share their insights and expertise, and opportunities to network with academics within and across disciplinary boundaries.
The keynote speaker is Dr Charlotte Mathieson, University of Surrey, whose research focuses on travel and mobility in nineteenth century literature. Her talk is entitled: 'From walking the Moors to threading the streets: the landscapes of Charlotte Brontë’s fiction and life writing'.
The inaugural conference hosted by Manchester School of Art and the Whitworth draws upon Manchester’s historic connection to textiles.
Lydia will present her analysis of Nevin Aladag's Screens I-III (2016) as part of the displacement panel, chaired by Prof. Alice Kettle and Dominique Heyse-Moore.
Lydia will be presenting at the University of York's Transculturation Conference (2017). Her paper examines the use of weave and stitch to explore transcultural encounter in Susan Hefuna's textile drawings from 2015.
Lydia will be in conversation with Jade Boyd for the Literary and Visual Landscapes seminar series 2017. The theme of the session is White on White and Lydia will be discussing Susan Hefuna's Textile Drawings (2015).
Lydia will be giving a paper at the AAH Conference (2017) in Loughborough. As part of the panel, Home, Exile and the Politics of Belonging, Lydia will be presenting (t)ex(t)ile: Exploring transnational identities in cloth.
